Overview
We are a small high-tech company founded in 2019 and based in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. M3SIM is a developer of engineering software and a provider of technical solutions for the mechanical and aerospace industry. By combining industrial, research, and academic experience, M3SIM will design and develop modeling tools for any of your dynamics, vibrations, acoustics, and structural design needs.

Fabio Semperlotti, Ph.D.
CEO & Co-founder
Dr. Fabio Semperlotti is the Chief Executive Officer and the co-founder of M3Sim. By combining more than 20 years of industrial and research experience in mechanical and aerospace engineering, Dr. Semperlotti brings to M3Sim the vision and the technical expertise in acoustics, vibrations, and structural design.
Dr. Semperlotti holds a B.S. and M.S. in aerospace engineering and a M.S. in astronautic engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (Italy), and a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from The Pennsylvania State University (USA). He has worked several years in the aerospace industry contributing to the design of structures for aerospace and launch systems.
Beyond his role as CEO of M3Sim, Dr. Semperlotti is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University where, together with his group of students, he conducts fundamental research on a variety of topics including structural dynamics, wave propagation, engineered materials, and computational and experimental mechanics.
Sansit Patnaik, Ph.D.
CTO & Co-founder
Dr. Sansit Patnaik is the Chief Technology Officer and the co-founder of M3Sim. With a Ph.D. focused on computational mechanics, he is an expert in accurate and efficient simulation techniques for complex real-world systems. Dr. Patnaik brings to M3Sim the vision and technical expertise in continuum mechanics, damage mechanics, nonlinear dynamics, material modeling, and fractional calculus.
Dr. Patnaik received a B.Tech. in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur (India), and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University (USA). He worked for one year with ITC Ltd. before joining Purdue University for graduate studies.
Dr. Patnaik was among the founding members of the BAJA (off-road) team of IITK Motorsports, the flagship motorsports team of IIT Kanpur during his undergraduate studies, exposing him to a broad spectrum of design, manufacturing, team-building, and leadership activities.
